A Comprehensive Examination

At Grove Smiles® Dentistry, your first visit is a crucial step in building a strong foundation for your oral health. We are committed to providing personalized care and ensuring your comfort throughout the process. During this initial appointment, we will:

1. Listen and Assess:

• Take the time to listen to your concerns.
• Address any initial questions or doubts you may have.
• Provide comprehensive answers and explanations tailored to your needs.

2. Thorough Examination:

• Conduct a meticulous examination of both extra-oral and intraoral structures.
• Examine extra-oral structures, including the head and neck muscles, TMJ (temporomandibular joint), and any visible or palpable irregularities.
• Assess intraoral tissues, such as teeth, gums, dental fillings, restorations, and your bite.
• Perform an oral cancer screening and evaluate sleep apnea/snoring concerns.
• Collaboratively discuss and evaluate any cosmetic concerns or desires you may have.

3. Periodontal Evaluation:

• Conduct a comprehensive periodontal examination to assess the health of your gums and supporting bone structures.
• Use this data to formulate a diagnosis and create a customized treatment plan to achieve and maintain optimal periodontal health.
• Recommend a basic hygiene regimen or more advanced periodontal care as needed, which may include adjunct medications, mouth rinses, or consultations with a specialist.

4. Radiographs (X-rays):

• Recognize the importance of dental radiographs (X-rays) as vital diagnostic tools.
• Utilize X-rays to assess unseen oral structures, including roots, nerve canals, bone, sinuses, and impacted wisdom teeth.
• Aid in diagnosing dental caries, dental abscesses, periodontal health, and screening for oral cancer.

5. Your Assistance:

• To ensure a comprehensive evaluation, kindly provide the following information during your first visit:
• Radiographs (X-rays), if available (those taken within the last year are ideal).
• A current list of medications.
• Dental insurance information and cards.
• Contact information for other healthcare providers and dental specialists involved in your care.

6. Medical History:

• Notify us of any significant medical issues or allergies before any dental surgical procedures.

7. Accompanied Minors:

• Please note that all minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Cancellations

At Grove Smiles® Dentistry, we understand that sometimes unexpected situations may arise, and you may need to reschedule or cancel your confirmed appointment. To ensure that we can accommodate other patients and maintain our schedule, we kindly request that you provide us with sufficient notice, preferably a minimum of 24 hours before your appointment, for any rescheduling or cancellation requests. This allows us to extend the invitation to other patients needing dental care during that time.

Please be aware that untimely cancellations may be subject to a cancellation fee, especially with short notice or without prior notification. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

We are committed to staying on schedule to minimize potential delays in your day. However, it’s important to note that emergencies or unforeseen circumstances during dental procedures may occasionally extend the time allocated for your appointment. During such instances, your understanding and patience are invaluable and rest assured, your consideration will be remembered.
